Composite Dredge Cutter Lineshaft Bearings
Thordon Compsite has consistently outperformed rubber in dredge cutter head bearing applications for many years. Now, Thordon has built on this success and developed a water lubricated ladder linshaft bearing utilizing Thordon Composite. The risks for pollution from grease leaking out, or damage to the bearing from water leaking in, that conventional bearings face are totally eliminated with this new Thordon design.
Thorseal Rudder Stock Seal
Thordon has developed a new high performance Thorseal rudder stock seal to complement the Thoron rudder bearing package. A tough, self lubricating polymeric lip seal, Thorseal is designed to provide exceptional wear life, positive sealing and to accommodate larger bearing clearances and movements associated with rudder stocks.
SXL Segmented Radial Shaft Seals
The first SXL segmented radial shaft seal was developed in the early 1980's with the first installation in 1982. Since that time there have been several refinements to the design resulting from customer feedback. More recently, the improvement focus has been on refining the sealing solution for large diameter hydro turbine and pump shafts (>500mm or 20"diameter). Tough, abrasion resistant Thordon SXL segmented radial shaft seals provide extended wear life, offer reduced life cycle costs and are much easier to handle/install without damage compared to carbon graphite-based seals. Sea Thigor Mechanical Shaft Seals
To further enhance Thordon's water lubricated propeller shaft bearing system package, Thordon has developed the Sea Thigor forward mechanical shaft seal.
Currently available for shaft diameters up to 300mm (12"), simple, yet rugged, Sea Thigor seals feature:
- a balanced face type design engineered to accommodate the axial and radial movements of a marine propeller shaft
- a non-rotating spring loaded carbon-graphite sealing face
- slight misalignment of the seal to the shaft will not result in axial "wobble" of the face during operation
- a chromium alloy steel rotary face
- outside pressurized design keeps the higher pressure medium to be sealed outside the seal faces
- centrifugal self-cleaning/pressure reducing action
